Darkness – New poem

Darkness

The darkness

Pulls me in

Until I find

The light

Within

Hidden

Beneath

The shadows

The lies

And resistance

To what should be

What is awaits

An ember

Flicker

Divine

Spark

Glowing

Faintly

Burning

Gently growing

The darkness

Pulls me in

Until I find

The light

Deep within

Let’s begin

The rabbit hole

Of no return

Once you’ve

Known

Fully known

And experienced

The deepest

Shadows

Darkness

And depths

Surface level

Won’t suffice

You pay the price

In “lost” relationships

And things

That couldn’t withstand

The pressure

Of the deepest

Depths

The midnight zone

Of buried

Suppressed

Undressed

Unbridled darkness

Dark matter

Flowing

And growing

Expanding

And knowing

The unfathomable

Inexplicable

Depths

The darkness pulls me in

Until I find the light

Ever bright

Even in the darkest night

Steady violet flame

Holding true

Holding strong

Will go on

No matter

The corporeal container

In this life

Those before

And those after

The true you

The light within

Burns ever on

From now

And into the beyond

Acrylic painting piece I did for my first painting workshop for a special event in 2018. Painting is in black and white, photographed with a rainbow reflection. This has become one of my favorite unintended self portraits, one my shadow self… the one I’ve hidden from many, pictured with my two familiars who are on the other side, but always with me in spirit and shadow.
