“Limiting Beliefs” prose from the summer of 2019

Limiting Beliefs

Too many to count

But somehow

I know them all

Attached to our core

Beat into our minds

Into our bodies too

Bruised

Cut

Shamed

Guilted

Blamed

Trained

To hate ourselves

Berate ourselves

To compare

Despair

And suffer

That those living in joy

Are selling something

False

Fake

Woo woo

Freakazoids

That therapy is for the weak

That vulnerability

Means death

That you’re weak

You’re broken

Fucked up

And sick

In the body

And in the mind

Fear of the other

Fear of the sickness

Fear of the truth

Our planet

And our minds

Are plagued

Corrupted

By the limits

Of beliefs

Built in fear

Glorifying human sacrifice

Praising Martyrdom

And creating

Separation

Denial

And fear

Of what’s different

Fear of emotions

Fear of feeling

The joy

Let go

Write a new story

Flip the narrative

Take back your power

Examine your beliefs

Question your thoughts

Especially those that cause pain

The truth

Is love

The lie

Is fear

Ever queer

And free

To be me

As are you

To be you

Choose love

Love is love
